Quebec's Bruce Beveridge 11-4, then won 12-8 against Northern Ontario's Bill Grozelle and 10-8 against Newfoundland / Labrador's Len Kalichak. Saskatchewan's Doug Wankel went on to lose 9-7 against Ontario's Alf Phillips Jr.. Saskatchewan's Doug Wankel responded with a 14-5 win over Nova Scotia's Ron Franklin. Saskatchewan's Doug Wankel won 15-5 against New Brunswick's Charlie Sullivan Sr., then won 7-5 against Alberta's Ron Northcott and 8-4 against British Columbia's Douglas (Buzz) McGibney. Saskatchewan's Doug Wankel won 10-5 against Prince Edward Island's Ken McDonald. Saskatchewan's Doug Wankel went on to lose 7-4 against Manitoba's Bruce Hudson in their final qualifying round match.
