Alberta's Ron Northcott finished 7-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Alberta's Ron Northcott defeated
New Brunswick's Charlie Sullivan Sr. 12-4, then won 7-5 against Newfoundland / Labrador's Len Kalichak and 11-5 against Quebec's Bruce Beveridge. Alberta's Ron Northcott won 9-7 against Northern Ontario's Bill Grozelle, then won 8-2 against Prince Edward Island's Ken McDonald and 8-6 against Manitoba's Bruce Hudson. Alberta's Ron Northcott went on to lose 7-5 against Saskatchewan's Doug Wankel. Alberta's Ron Northcott lost 8-7 to Ontario's Alf Phillips Jr. where Alberta's Ron Northcott responded with a 12-8 win over British Columbia's Douglas (Buzz) McGibney. Alberta's Ron Northcott went on to lose 9-8 against Nova Scotia's Ron Franklin in their final qualifying round match.
