Matthew Hall (Kitchener, ON) needed a tiebreaker to advance to the playoffs, Hall finished 5-3 in the 9-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hall defeated Steve Allen (Ottawa, ON) 7-5, then won 10-4 against Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON) and 10-7 against Mark Kean (London, ON). Hall went on to lose 7-6 against John Epping (Toronto, ON). Hall lost 9-4 to Scott McDonald (Kingston, ON) where Hall responded with a 9-5 win over Jason Camm (Ottawa, ON). Hall won 8-6 against John Willsey (Waterloo, ON). Hall went on to lose 12-7 against Glenn Howard (Penetanguishene , ON) in their final qualifying round match.

Hall earned 5.709 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Hall move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 4.556 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 93rd overall with 47.967 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Hall ranks 94th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 42.355 points earned so far this season.
