To advance to the championship game, Skanes won 6-5 over Colin Thomas (St. John's, NL) in the semifinals of the 2020 Centennial Spiel in St. John, Newfoundland / Labrador; and won 6-2 over Ken Peddigrew (St. John's, NL) in the quarterfinals.
 
Skanes finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Skanes defeated Jeff Thomas (St. John's, NL) 7-6, then won 5-0 against Greg Smith (St. John's , NL) and 9-3 against Neil Power (St. John's, NL). Skanes won 6-5 against Paul Harvey (St. John's, NL) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Centennial Spiel Championship title, Skanes earned 10.285 world rankings points along with the $2,400CDN first prize cheque, moving up 37 spots the World Ranking Standings into 140th place overall with 25.905 total points. Skanes ranks 120th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 25.085 points earned so far this season.
