Greg Cheal (Lennoxville, QC) finished 4-3 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cheal defeated Alex Berube (Mont-Bruno, QC) 8-7, then went on to lose 6-4 against Scott Hill (Ormstown, QC). Cheal responded with a 6-5 win over Michel Lachance (Sept-Iles, QC). Cheal won 6-5 against Francois Halle (Valleyfield, QC), then won 8-7 against Frederic Lawton (Baie d'Urfe, QC). Cheal went on to lose 8-4 against Berube. Cheal lost 6-4 to Halle in their final qualifying round match.

Cheal earned 2.138 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. For week 21 of the event schedule, Cheal did not improve upon their best events, remaining at th place on the World Ranking Standings with total points. Cheal ranks th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with points earned so far this season.
