In their opening game, McMakin defeated Anya Normandeau (Burnsville, MN) 8-3, then went on to lose 7-6 against Dakotah Crotty (Pardeeville, WI). McMakin responded with a 8-6 win over Abbey Kitchens (Devils Lake, ND) in their final qualifying round match.
