Pavol Pitonak (Bratislava, SVK) finished 1-6 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Pitonak lost 9-5 to Otto Kalocsay (Budapest, HUN), droppimg another game, 7-6 to James Pougher (Deeside, WAL) where Pitonak responded with a 10-3 win over Harri Lill (Tallinn, EST). Pitonak went on to lose 10-9 against Reto Seiler (Sofia, BUL). Pitonak lost 9-6 to Lukas Klima (Prague, CZE). Pitonak lost 9-2 to Spain's Sergio Vez. Pitonak lost 9-2 to Jermu Pollanen (Hyvinkaa, FIN) in their final qualifying round match.

Pitonak earned 2.672 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 101 spots the World Ranking Standings into 332nd place overall with 4.018 total points. Pitonak ranks 283rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 2.672 points earned so far this season.
