Nassar Alyafei (Doha, QAT) finished 3-6 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Alyafei lost 16-0 to Chang-Min Kim (Uiseong, KOR), then responded with a 7-6 win over Abylay Zhuzbay (Almaty, KAZ). Alyafei went on to lose 15-1 against Scott Becker (Naseby, NZL). Alyafei lost 13-3 to Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) where Alyafei responded with a 8-5 win over Jason Chang (Hong Kong, HKG). Alyafei went on to lose 12-4 against Qiang Zou (Beijing, CHN). Alyafei lost 10-3 to Sean Hall (Melbourne, AUS) where Alyafei responded with a 14-3 win over Tijani Cole (Lagos, NGR). Alyafei went on to lose 10-2 against Randie Shen (Taipei City, TPE) in their final qualifying round match.

Alyafei earned 4.418 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 233 spots the World Ranking Standings into 318th place overall with 4.502 total points. Alyafei ranks 234th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.418 points earned so far this season.
