To advance to the championship game, Switzerland's Daniela Rupp/Kevin Wunderlin won 7-6 over Russia's Daria Morozova/Daniil Goryachev in the semifinals of the 2020 International Mixed Doubles Trophy Aarau in Aarau, Switzerland; and won 7-6 over Nadja Grunder/Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI) in the quarterfinals.
 
Switzerland's Daniela Rupp/Kevin Wunderlin finished 5-0 in the 18-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Switzerland's Daniela Rupp/Kevin Wunderlin defeated Switzerland's Noelle Iseli/Rene Iseli 7-6, then won 7-6 against Anastasia Moskaleva/Alexander Eremin (Moscow, RUS) and 9-5 against Norway's Marianne Rorvik/Torger Nergaard. Switzerland's Daniela Rupp/Kevin Wunderlin won 6-5 against Marlene Albrecht/Matt Wozniak (Zurich, SUI), then won 8-5 against Poland's Marta Szeliga-Frynia/Pawel Frynia in their final qualifying round match.
