In their opening game, van Dorp defeated Rich Ruohonen (Minneapolis, USA) 8-6, then won 6-4 against Jan Klossner (Langenthal, SUI) and 7-4 against Lucien Lottenbach (Zug, SUI). van Dorp won 10-4 against Simon Gempeler (Adelboden, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.
