Birr finished 3-1 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birr lost 6-4 to Kean, then responded with a 8-2 win over Sandy MacEwan (Sudbury, NONT). Birr won 8-1 against Robert Wright (Toronto, ON), then won 8-1 against Sam Steep (St. Catherines, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Birr earned 14.147 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the Port Elgin Superspiel. Birr move up 4 spots after posting a net gain of 7.014 points improving upon their best 5 results so far this season, ranking 52nd overall with 92.895 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
