Matsumura finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura defeated Ryo Ogihara (Karuizawa, JPN) 8-2, then won 6-3 against Edin and 7-1 against Naomasa Takeda (Nayoro, JPN). Matsumura won 6-3 against Shingo Usui (Kitami, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.
