Yuta Matsumura (Kitami, JPN) won 7-4 over Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE) in the Final of the Karuizawa International, held December 19 - 22, 2019 in Karuizawa, Japan. To advance to the championship game, Matsumura won 8-6 over Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) in the semifinals of the 2019 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan; and won 6-4 over Hayato Matsumura (Karuizawa, JPN) in the quarterfinals. of the 2019 Karuizawa International in Karuizawa, Japan;

Matsumura finished 4-0 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura defeated Ryo Ogihara (Karuizawa, JPN) 8-2, then won 6-3 against Edin and 7-1 against Naomasa Takeda (Nayoro, JPN). Matsumura won 6-3 against Shingo Usui (Kitami, JPN) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Karuizawa International Championship title, Matsumura earned 36.038 world rankings points along with the $15,628CDN first prize cheque. Matsumura move up 5 spots after posting a net gain of 29.006 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 13th overall with 261.465 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
