To advance to the championship game, Kim won 7-1 over Alina Kovaleva (Saint-Petersburg , RUS) in the semifinals of the 2020 Meridian Canadian Open in Yorkton, Saskatchewan; and won 5-4 over Kerri Einarson (Winnipeg, MB) in the quarterfinals.
 
Kim finished 3-2 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kim lost 4-3 to Tracy Fleury (East St. Paul, MB), droppimg another game, 5-4 to Elena Stern (Oberwallis, SUI) where Kim responded with a 8-2 win over Kelsey Rocque (Edmonton, AB). Kim won 7-4 against Rachel Homan (Ottawa, ON), then won 6-5 against Eve Muirhead (Stirling, SCO) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Meridian Canadian Open, Kim take home 67.155 world rankings points along with the $20,000CDN prize. Kim move up 6 spots after posting a net gain of 48.712 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 12th overall with 242.792 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
