To advance to the championship game, MacEwan won 4-3 over Pat Ferris (Grimsby, ON) in the semifinals of the 2019 Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada; and won 9-3 over Cory Heggestad (Stroud, ON) in the quarterfinals.
MacEwan are currently 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, MacEwan defeated Cameron Goodkey (Ottawa, ON) 8-3, then won 9-2 against Travis Belchior (Welland, ON) and 8-2 against Ferris. In their next game, MacEwan plays.
For winning the Stroud Sleeman Cash Spiel Championship title, MacEwan earned 23.556 world rankings points along with the $3,800CDN first prize cheque. MacEwan move up 27 spots after posting a net gain of 20.504 points improving upon their best 4 results so far this season, ranking 72nd overall with 60.415 total points on the World Ranking Standings. MacEwan ranks 42nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 36.005 points earned so far this season.
