Nyman went on to lose 8-3 against Karsten Sturmay (Edmonton, CAN). Nyman responded with a 10-1 win over Cheng Wei Hu (Beijing, CHN). Nyman went on to lose 5-3 against Ramsfjell. Nyman responded with a 6-5 win over Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) in their final qualifying round match.

Nyman earned 4.924 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 9 spots the World Ranking Standings into 90th place overall with 45.674 total points. Nyman ranks 90th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 45.674 points earned so far this season.
