Steve Swoboda (Rice Lake, WI) finished 2-3 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Swoboda defeated Keith Stauber (Duluth, MN) 6-2, then went on to lose 6-3 against Paul Pustovar (Hibbing, MN). Swoboda responded with a 10-2 win over Lionel Locke (Minnetonka, MN). Swoboda went on to lose 8-3 against Craig Halliday (Denver, CO). Swoboda lost 7-5 to Jeff Erickson (Proctor, MN) in their final qualifying round match.
