Scott Becker (Naseby, NZL) finished 5-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Becker defeated Ian Palangio (Sydney, AUS) 12-4, then won 9-5 against Borys Jasiecki (Sopot, POL). Becker went on to lose 7-5 against SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR). Becker responded with a 9-3 win over Marcelo Mello (Sao Paolo, BRZ). Becker won 8-2 against Ulrik Damm (Hvidovre, DEN), then won 7-5 against Andrew Reed (Kent, ENG). Becker went on to lose 9-2 against Jaap van Dorp (Zoetermeer, NED) in their final qualifying round match.

Becker earned 3.375 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Becker move up 33 spots after posting a net gain of 3.268 points improving upon their best 8 results so far this season, ranking 197th overall with 14.170 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Becker ranks 192nd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.063 points earned so far this season.
