To advance to the championship game, Hartung won 8-2 over Brent Gedak (Estevan, SK) in the semifinals of the 2018 Regina Highland Cashspiel in Regina, Saskatchewan; and won 6-3 over Michael Carss (Saskatoon, SK) in the quarterfinals.
 
Hartung finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Hartung defeated Brady Kendel (Kronau, SK) 8-6, then won 6-2 against Tyler Krupski (Regina, SK) and 3-2 against Dustin Kalthoff (Saskatoon, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the Regina Highland Cashspiel Championship title, Hartung earned 17.719 world rankings points along with the $3,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 12 spots the World Ranking Standings into 60th place overall with 72.968 total points. Hartung ranks 45th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 46.216 points earned so far this season.
