Rich Ruohonen (Chaska, USA) finished 4-0 in the 3-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ruohonen defeated Marcelo Mello (Sao Paolo, BRZ) 10-1, then won 13-2 against Rayad Husain (Georgetown, GUY) and 8-1 against Mello. Ruohonen won 9-3 against Husain in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Americas Challenge Championship title, Ruohonen earned 7.695 world rankings points, remaining in 20th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of -13.208 after improving upon their best so far this season. Ruohonen ranks 26th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 89.020 points earned so far this season.
