To advance to the championship game, Cortello won 7-2 over Coady Lewis (Moncton, NB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Oak Island Junior Mens Cashspiel in Chester, Nova Scotia;
 
Cortello finished 3-1 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Cortello defeated Nathan Young (St. John's, NL) 6-1, then went on to lose 6-1 against Matthew Manuel (Halifax, NS). Cortello responded with a 5-3 win over Ethan Young (Halifax, NS). Cortello won 5-4 against Mitchell Schut (Cornwall, PEI) in their final qualifying round match.
