Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN) finished 2-4 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura lost 7-4 to Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE), droppimg another game, 10-4 to Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) where Matsumura responded with a 7-5 win over Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR). Matsumura went on to lose 7-2 against Edin. Matsumura responded with a 6-4 win over Schwaller. Matsumura went on to lose 9-2 against Ulsrud in their final qualifying round match.

Matsumura earned 5.895 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 27th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 156.201 total points. Matsumura ranks 21st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 131.806 points earned so far this season.
