Thomas Ulsrud (Oslo, NOR) finished 3-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ulsrud defeated Yannick Schwaller (Bern, SUI) 10-4, then won 6-3 against Niklas Edin (Karlstad, SWE). Ulsrud went on to lose 7-5 against Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN). Ulsrud lost 6-5 to Schwaller. Ulsrud lost 7-2 to Edin where Ulsrud responded with a 9-2 win over Matsumura in their final qualifying round match.
