To advance to the championship game, Thompson won 7-3 over Chad Stevens (Halifax, NS) in the semifinals
Thompson finished 3-0 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Thompson defeated Brent MacDougall (Halifax, NS) 6-5, then won 6-3 against Fitzner-Leblanc and 6-3 against Kurt Roach (Sydney, NS) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the The Curling Store Cashspiel Championship title, Thompson earned 14.725 world rankings points along with the $2,100CDN first prize cheque, moving up 11 spots the World Ranking Standings into 45th place overall with 83.649 total points. Thompson ranks 48th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.725 points earned so far this season.
