Smith finished 2-0 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Smith defeated William Lyburn (Winnipeg, MB) 4-3, then won 5-3 against Dilello in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the MCT Championships Championship title, Smith earned 24.609 world rankings points along with the $1,600CDN first prize cheque, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 40th place overall with 112.575 total points. Smith ranks 35th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 93.940 points earned so far this season.
