Howard won 5-4 against Rob Retchless (Toronto, ON), then won 8-3 against Charley Thomas (Kitchener-Waterloo, ON). Howard went on to lose 7-5 against Epping. Howard responded with a 9-4 win over Mark Bice (Sarnia, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
