Thompson finished 5-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . Thompson won 10-1 against Greg Power (Halifax, NS), then won 7-4 against Ian Fitzner-Leblanc (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Bud Light Men's Cash Spiel Championship title, Thompson earned 13.859 world rankings points along with the $1,750CDN first prize cheque. Thompson move up 23 spots after posting a net gain of 11.202 points improving upon their best 3 results so far this season, ranking 78th overall with 46.119 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
