Usselman finished 3-0 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Usselman defeated John Stroh (Medicine Hat, AB) 6-0, then won 9-3 against Brian Brown (Black Diamond, AB) and 9-4 against John Steel (High River, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
