Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI) finished 3-3 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, De Cruz lost 6-4 to Kevin Koe (Calgary, CAN), then responded with a 10-1 win over Masaki Iwai (Sapporo, JPN). De Cruz went on to lose 5-4 against Bruce Mouat (Stirling, SCO). De Cruz lost 7-4 to Koe where De Cruz responded with a 6-3 win over Iwai. De Cruz won 6-5 against Mouat in their final qualifying round match.
