Andrew Stopera (Chaska, USA) finished 5-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Stopera defeated Ryan Hahn (Ottawa, ON) 7-3, then won 10-2 against Daniel Bruce (St. John's, NB). Stopera went on to lose 7-3 against Vincent Roberge (Levis, QC). Stopera responded with a 6-5 win over Liam Marin (Saint John, NB). Stopera won 7-5 against Switzerland's Marco Hoesli, then won 7-5 against Roberge in their final qualifying round match.
