To advance to the championship game, Steep won 6-5 over Ze Zhong Zhang (Changchun, CHN) in the semifinals of the Brampton U21 Junior Mens Cashspiel in Brampton, Ontario, Canada; and won 6-2 over Hang Qu (Harbin, CHN) in the quarterfinals. of the Brampton U21 Junior Mens Cashspiel in Brampton, Ontario, Canada;
 
Steep finished 3-1 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Steep defeated Peter Naus (Scarborough, ON) 8-2, then went on to lose 5-3 against Zhang. Steep responded with a 6-4 win over Landan Rooney (Mississauga, ON). Steep won 9-3 against Evan Roitz (Minden, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
