In their opening game, Carey lost 7-6 to Min Ji Kim (Chuncheon City, KOR), then responded with a 8-5 win over Daniela Jentsch (Fuessen, GER). Carey won 8-7 against Iveta Stasa-Sarsune (Riga, LAT). Carey went on to lose 7-5 against Seina Nakajima (Nagano, JPN). Carey responded with a 7-6 win over Oona Kauste (Aland, FIN). Carey went on to lose 6-5 against Sophie Jackson (Stirling, SCO). Carey lost 13-6 to Jamie Sinclair (Chaska, USA) where Carey responded with a 8-7 win over Jie Mei (Harbin, CHN). Carey went on to lose 9-3 against Silvana Tirinzoni (Aarau, SUI). Carey responded with a 9-6 win over Alina Kovaleva (Saint-Petersburg, RUS). Carey went on to lose 5-3 against Anna Hasselborg (Sundbyberg, SWE). Carey responded with a 5-3 win over Madeleine Dupont (Hvidovre, DEN) in their final qualifying round match.

Carey earned 25.071 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, remaining in 6th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 16.357 after improving upon their best so far this season. Carey ranks 6th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 323.572 points earned so far this season.
