Oona Kauste (Aland, FIN) lost 9-3 to Maggie Wilson (Stirlign, SCO) in the Final of the Latvia International Challenger, held October 25 - 28, 2018 in Tukums, Latvia. To advance to the championship game, Kauste won 6-4 over Ieva Rudzite (Riga, LAT) in the semifinals of the 2018 Latvia International Challenger in Tukums, Latvia; and won 7-5 over Iveta Stasa-Sarsune (Riga, LAT) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Latvia International Challenger in Tukums, Latvia;
 
Kauste finished 2-2 in the 13-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Kauste lost 4-3 to Stasa-Sarsune, then responded with a 9-4 win over Irina Belko (Minsk, BLR). Kauste went on to lose 5-3 against Virginija Paulauskaite (Vilnius, LTU). Kauste responded with a 5-2 win over Wilson in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Latvia International Challenger, Kauste take home 9.854 world rankings points along with the $1,194CDN prize, moving up 10 spots the World Ranking Standings into 66th place overall with 57.618 total points. Kauste ranks 79th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 23.440 points earned so far this season.
