Birr finished 2-2 in the 11-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birr defeated Jason Smith (Blaine, MN) 8-6, then went on to lose 5-4 against SooHyuk Kim (Seoul, KOR). Birr lost 6-3 to Sean Beighton (Madison, WI) where Birr responded with a 8-4 win over Brandon Corbett (Rochester, NY) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Birr earned 7.600 world rankings points for their Top 5 finish in the ASHAM U.S. Open of Curling.
