8-2 to Charley Thomas (Toronto, ON), droppimg another game, 7-0 to Ross Paterson (Glasgow, SCO). Tanaka lost 7-3 to Brock Virtue (Kerrobert, SK) where Tanaka responded with a 5-2 win over Josh Barry (Vancouver, BC). Tanaka went on to lose 9-5 against John Epping (Toronto, ON) in their final qualifying round match.
 
Tanaka earned 3.053 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 56 spots the World Ranking Standings into 264th place overall with 7.496 total points. Tanaka ranks 243rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 4.570 points earned so far this season.
