John Shuster (Duluth, USA) lost 4-3 to Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB) in the Final of the GOLDLINE Icebreaker at The Granite, held August 24 - 26, 2018 at the Granite Curling Club in Winnipeg, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Shuster won 5-3 over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals

Shuster finished 3-1 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Shuster defeated Brett Walter (Winnipeg, MB) 7-2, then went on to lose 7-3 against Kirk Muyres (Saskatoon, SK). Shuster responded with a 8-5 win over Calvert. Shuster won 6-5 against Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the GOLDLINE Icebreaker at The Granite, Shuster take home 25.213 world rankings points along with the $1,280CDN prize, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 12th place overall with 244.817 total points.
