To advance to the championship game, Calvert won 7-2 over Jason Gunnlaugson (Winnipeg, MB) in the semifinals of the 2018 GOLDLINE Icebreaker at The Granite in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada;
Calvert finished 2-2 in the 8-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Calvert lost 5-4 to Ty Dilello (Winnipeg, MB), then responded with a 6-2 win over Sean Grassie (Winnipeg, MB). Calvert went on to lose 8-5 against Shuster. Calvert responded with a 5-3 win over Matt Dunstone (Regina, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the GOLDLINE Icebreaker at The Granite Championship title, Calvert earned 34.381 world rankings points along with the $1,720CDN first prize cheque, moving up 4 spots the World Ranking Standings into 16th place overall with 197.581 total points. Calvert ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 34.381 points earned so far this season.
