Gim finished 4-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Gim defeated Yu Han (Beijing, CHN) 6-5, then won 8-4 against Julie Hastings (Thornhill, ON) and 6-5 against Duncan. Gim won 8-5 against 's Stephanie Senneker in their final qualifying round match.
