Rachel Homan (Ottawa, ON) won 4-3 over Silvana Tirinzoni (Aarau, SUI) in the Final of the Meridian Canadian Open, held January 8 - 13, 2019 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. To advance to the championship game, Homan won 6-4 over Nina Roth (Chaska, USA) in the semifinals of the 2019 Meridian Canadian Open in North Battleford, Saskatchewan; and won 4-3 over Casey Scheidegger (Lethbridge, AB) in the quarterfinals.
Homan finished 3-0 in the 16-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Homan defeated Laura Walker (Edmonton, AB) 8-5, then won 6-3 against Darcy Robertson (Winnipeg, MB) and 8-3 against Robyn Silvernagle (North Battleford, SK) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Meridian Canadian Open Championship title, Homan earned 90.492 world rankings points along with the $30,000CDN first prize cheque, remaining in 1st place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 53.263 after improving upon their best so far this season. Homan ranks 1st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 513.710 points earned so far this season.
