Brad Jacobs (Sault Ste Marie, NONT) won 6-5 over Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB) in the Final of the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1, held November 6 - 11, 2018 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. To advance to the championship game, Jacobs won 6-3 over Peter De Cruz (Geneve, SUI) in the semifinals   of the 2018 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 in Thunder Bay, Ontario; and won 7-6 over John Shuster (Duluth, USA) in the quarterfinals.  of the 2018 GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 in Thunder Bay, Ontario; 
 
Jacobs finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Jacobs defeated Bottcher 5-4, then won 5-3 against Braden Calvert (Winnipeg, MB) and 5-1 against Glenn Howard (Penetanguishe, ON). Jacobs went on to lose 3-1 against Kevin Koe (Calgary, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
For winning the GSOC Tour Challenge Tier 1 Championship title, Jacobs earned 79.196 world rankings points along with the $20,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 2 spots the World Ranking Standings into 5th place overall with 409.533 total points. Jacobs ranks 3rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 207.209 points earned so far this season.
