Yuta Matsumura (Sapporo, JPN) won 7-1 over Sean Geall (Kelowna, BC) in the Final of the Driving Force Abbotsford Cashspiel, held October 12 - 14, 2018 at the Abbotsford Curling Club in Abbotsford, Canada. To advance to the championship game, Matsumura won 6-5 over Grant Dezura (Maple Ridge , BC) in the semifinals of the 2018 Driving Force Abbotsford Cashspiel in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada; and won 8-2 over Tyler Klymchuk (Kamloops, BC) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Driving Force Abbotsford Cashspiel in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada;

Matsumura finished 3-0 in the 20-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Matsumura defeated Brayden Carpenter (New Westminster, BC) 8-2, then won 7-5 against Deane Horning (Castlegar, BC) and 8-6 against Glen Jackson (Victoria, BC) in their final qualifying round match.

For winning the Driving Force Abbotsford Cashspiel Championship title, Matsumura earned 19.646 world rankings points along with the $8,000CDN first prize cheque, moving up 1 spots the World Ranking Standings into 33rd place overall with 116.345 total points.
