To advance to the championship game, Walstad won 8-2 over Magnus Ramsfjell (Oppdal, NOR) in the semifinals of the 2018 Norwegian National Championship in Lillehammer, Norway; and won 7-3 over Bent Anund Ramsfjell (Jar, NOR) in the quarterfinals. of the 2018 Norwegian National Championship in Lillehammer, Norway;
Walstad finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Walstad defeated Gaute Nepstad (Lillehammer, NOR) 8-2, then won 8-3 against Patrick Kverkild (Trondheim, NOR). Walstad went on to lose 5-4 against Johan Hostmaehlingen (Lillehammer, NOR). Walstad responded with a 6-1 win over Kjetil Skaret (Snaroen, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.
For winning the Norwegian National Championship Championship title, Walstad earned 28.655 world rankings points. Walstad move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 26.167 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 17th overall with 376.202 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
