Thomas Ulsrud (Snaroen, NOR) lost 9-6 to Steffen Walstad (Oppdal, NOR) in the Final of the Norwegian National Championship, held March 23 - 25, 2018 in Lillehammer, Norway. To advance to the championship game, Ulsrud won 8-4 over Johan Hostmaehlingen (Lillehammer, NOR) in the semifinals of the 2018 Norwegian National Championship in Lillehammer, Norway; and won 6-4 over Marcus Wolan (Trondheim, NOR) in the quarterfinals.

Ulsrud finished 3-1 in the 15-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ulsrud defeated Olav Kringlebotn (Hedmarken, NOR) 10-4, then went on to lose 6-5 against Thomas Lindekleiv (Kristiansand, NOR). Ulsrud responded with a 7-2 win over Lucas Hostmaehlingen (Lillehammer, NOR). Ulsrud won 5-3 against Steffen R. Mellemseter (Oppdal, NOR) in their final qualifying round match.

With their runner-up finish at the Norwegian National Championship, Ulsrud take home 22.515 world rankings points, remaining in 10th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with a net gain of 14.101 after improving upon their best so far this season. Ulsrud ranks 14th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 216.209 points earned so far this season.
