In their opening game, Nowell defeated Chris Louie (Calgary, AB) 8-1, then won 6-5 against Max Albrecht (Manning, AB) and 11-2 against Cole Rivard (Morinville, AB). Nowell won 6-5 against Mackenzie Konschuh (Crossfield, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
