Laycock went on to lose 8-4 against John Epping (Toronto, ON). Laycock responded with a 8-6 win over Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB). Laycock went on to lose 5-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN). Laycock lost 6-4 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) where Laycock responded with a 7-5 win over Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

Laycock earned 15.647 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Laycock move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 11.44 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 11th overall with 431.897 total points on the World Ranking Standings.
