Laycock went on to lose 8-4 against John Epping (Toronto, ON). Laycock responded with a 8-6 win over Brendan Bottcher (Edmonton, AB). Laycock went on to lose 5-4 against Brad Gushue (St. John's, CAN). Laycock lost 6-4 to Mike McEwen (Winnipeg, MB) where Laycock responded with a 7-5 win over Jamie Murphy (Halifax, NS) in their final qualifying round match.

Laycock earned 15.647 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins. Laycock move up 1 spots after posting a net gain of 11.44 points improving upon their best results so far this season, ranking 11th overall with 431.897 total points on the World Ranking Standings. Laycock ranks 23rd overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 151.647 points earned so far this season.
