Nicholas Connolly (Seattle, WA) finished 4-5 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Connolly defeated Tucker Smith (Bismarck, ND) 8-7, then went on to lose 8-5 against Todd Birr (Blaine, MN). Connolly lost 8-5 to Kroy Nernberger (Blaine, MN) where Connolly responded with a 7-5 win over Scott Dunnam (Philadelphia, PA). Connolly went on to lose 10-4 against Rich Ruohonen (Seattle, WA). Connolly lost 6-5 to Jed Brundidge (Sioux Falls, SD) where Connolly responded with a 6-4 win over Alex Leichter (Boston, MA). Connolly won 5-4 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN). Connolly went on to lose 8-3 against Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA) in their final qualifying round match.

Connolly earned 4.817 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 28 spots the World Ranking Standings into 199th place overall with 21.048 total points. Connolly ranks 171st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 14.475 points earned so far this season.
