Todd Birr (Blaine, MN) run at the 2018 USA Men's National Championship came to an end in the semifinals with a 8-1 loss to Heath McCormick (Blaine, USA). of the 2018 USA Men's National Championship in Fargo, North Dakota;

Birr finished 6-3 in the 10-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Birr defeated Kroy Nernberger (Blaine, MN) 7-5, then won 8-5 against Nicholas Connolly (Seattle, WA). Birr went on to lose 6-2 against McCormick. Birr lost 8-1 to Alex Leichter (Boston, MA). Birr lost 8-3 to Jed Brundidge (Sioux Falls, SD) where Birr responded with a 6-5 win over Rich Ruohonen (Seattle, WA). Birr won 8-4 against Tucker Smith (Bismarck, ND), then won 7-5 against Scott Dunnam (Philadelphia, PA) and 10-4 against Pete Fenson (Bemidji, MN) in their final qualifying round match.

Birr earned 20.470 world rankings points for their Top 3 finish in the USA Men's National Championship, moving up 7 spots the World Ranking Standings into 47th place overall with 164.307 total points. Birr ranks 51st overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 79.903 points earned so far this season.
