In their opening game, Stern defeated Cynthia Gertsch (Dubendorf, SUI) 10-1, then won 6-5 against Chantale Widmer (Schaffhausen, SUI) and 5-4 against Paetz. Stern went on to lose 6-3 against Binia Feltscher (Flims, SUI). Stern responded with a 7-4 win over Ursi Hegner (Uzwil, SUI). Stern went on to lose 5-4 against Feltscher. Stern responded with a 6-5 win over Gertsch. Stern went on to lose 7-6 against Paetz. Stern responded with a 7-6 win over Widmer. Stern went on to lose 7-2 against Hegner in their final qualifying round match.
