To advance to the championship game, Sturmay won 7-5 over Daylan Vavrek (Sexsmith, AB) in the semifinals of the 2018 Alberta Boston Pizza Cup in Spruce Grove, Alberta;
 
Sturmay finished 5-1 in the 12-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Sturmay defeated Thomas Usselman (Edmonton, AB) 4-2, then won 7-4 against Aaron Sluchinski (Airdrie, AB). Sturmay went on to lose 10-7 against Bottcher. Sturmay responded with a 9-2 win over Jeremy Harty (Calgary, AB). Sturmay won 8-7 against Ted Appelman (Spruce Grove, AB), then won 7-3 against Charley Thomas (Edmonton, AB) in their final qualifying round match.
 
With their runner-up finish at the Alberta Boston Pizza Cup, Sturmay take home 16.555 world rankings points. For week 26 of the event schedule, Sturmay did not improve upon their best events, dropping from 508th to 520th place overall on the World Ranking Standings with 0.763 total points. Sturmay ranks 416th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 0.763 points earned so far this season.
