In their opening game, MacDonald lost 6-2 to Wayne Tallon (Fredericton, NB), droppimg another game, 9-4 to Zac Blanchard (Saint John, NB) where MacDonald responded with a 7-5 win over Christopher McCann (Fredericton Junction, NB). MacDonald went on to lose 11-2 against Scott Jones (Moncton, NB) in their final qualifying round match.

MacDonald earned 0.665 world rankings points for their preliminary round wins, moving up 131 spots the World Ranking Standings into 527th place overall with 0.665 total points. MacDonald ranks 410th overall on the Year-to-Date rankings with 0.665 points earned so far this season.
