Dawson Ballard (New Westminster, BC) lost 3-1 to Tyler Tardi (Langley, BC) in the Final of the BC Boston Pizza Junior Mens Curling Championship, held December 18 - 23, 2017 at the Langley Curling Club in Langley, Canada.
 
Ballard finished 5-2 in the 0-team qualifying round. . In their opening game, Ballard defeated Tardi 9-5, then won 8-5 against Jesse Monette (Vernon, BC). Ballard went on to lose 6-2 against Matthew McCrady (New Westminster, BC). Ballard lost 9-3 to Alex Horvath (Victoria, BC) where Ballard responded with a 6-2 win over Kyle Habkirk (Victoria, BC). Ballard won 7-3 against Johnson Tao (Richmond, BC), then won 8-7 against Nathan Silva (Surrey, BC) in their final qualifying round match.
